DJ Mag 2007 - Thank You!
I’d like to thank everybody who took the time to vote for me during the DJ Mag Top 100 poll after finishing 30th for the second year. As most of you know I put a lot more importance on my own development within the industry rather than spending precious time creating voting campaigns etc, and I am glad people have acknowledged this when voting this year. I plan to repay my fans with a lot more over the next 12 months, more tours, more cities, more productions and even less sleep. I hope to see you all in 2008!
- Andy

DJ Mag featured each of the top slated DJ’s ranked this year in a special edition of the magazine. Below is the short interview they had with Andy.
#30 Andy Moor
Style: Trance
Known For: Genre-blending DJ sets; and his remixes of popstrels such as Britney, Avril Lavigne and Nelly Furtado as half of hot production team Leama & Moor.
Tune of 2007: Albert Vorne ‘Formentera What (Gareth Emery Remix)’
Producer of 2007: Jerome Isma-Ae
Breakthrough DJ of 2008: James Davis
Your Musical Inspiration? Every sound I hear inspires me in some way.
Best Festival on the Planet? Global Gathering
Best Bit of Kit? The MacBook Pro. When new music is emailed to me two minutes before a gig, I can burn it and play it that night.
What Tune Makes You Cry? Aqua ‘Barbie Girl’
Naughtiest Thing You’ve Done This Year? Probably ordering nine donkeys to be delivered to my friend’s house.
Reflecting on his gig schedule, Andy Moor says: “I think my agent wants to see me as far away as possible. And with most gigs at least a continent away, I’m turning into a walking, talking piece of airplane food.” Nonetheless, it’s given him a chance to cement his reputation as one of the strongest and most imaginative trance jocks on the planet. This 25-year-old from Stoke-on-Trent has come a long way in a relatively short time.
Andy started making music at the age of five, and since then has worked with some of the biggest names in the business (Tiesto, Oakenfold, Brian Eno, Arthur Baker), making a name for himself both on his own and as part of various high-profile partnerships, including Tilt (Parks, Wilson and Moor), Leama & Moor and the huge-selling Whiteroom.
He’s also set up his own label, AVA Recordings, but most of his time this year has been taken up with international DJing.
“There is definitely a positive feeling and vibe wherever I have been,” he says. “But I’m hoping to slow down and get into the studio towards the end of the year.”
